THE CHAIR – FORERUNNER OF MODERN MINIMALISM

THE CHAIR - FORERUNNER OF MODERN MINIMALISM

Did you know that the Puritan beliefs of the representatives of a religious movement in the 18th century influenced the development of a particular style of furnishings that is devoid of any decorative additions? This style is considered as the forerunner of modern minimalism. It is interesting that the followers of this religious movement had a tradition of hanging their chairs, objects and tools on the walls, thus gaining space and creating comfort! It is these traditions that have inspired designer Gabriel Tan to create a very simple chair with minimalist shapes, consisting of a rounded seat, marked in the shape of a traditional stool, with a low perforated back, designed to be hung on the wall.

What about you - would you hang your chair on the wall?
