Dear friends of design, we present to you our latest project in Tenerife, Spain – transformation of an existing garage into a modern apartment with an area of 90 sq.m. , in which absolutely nothing is missing! FIRST STEP : MEASURING AND BUILDING A STRATEGY Take measurements of the room, take photos, inspect the structure (here you will need a design engineer) and consider the possibilities for transforming the space! The biggest challenge for us in this particular case was to bring sunlight into the room. For this purpose, we made structural openings in the ceiling above the dining area, added an access ladder and glazed completely around it. In the meantime, we have separated the separate rooms. SECOND STEP : INSPIRATION The style is determined by the location. In our case, we were inspired by the local Moorish style, strongly influenced by the proximity to Africa and Morocco. Ethnic accents, earthy colors and Mediterranean coziness.
THIRD STEP : LANDSCAPING This part of the transformation was one of our most enjoyable tasks J. The abundance of exotic plants (from insect-eating ones to a variety of cacti) made it difficult for us to choose, but also helped us to give coziness to the home and bring nature into it! Improvise with flowers and landscaping suitable for our climate and you will not go wrong!
FOURTH STEP : WORKFLOW The work on transforming the inhospitable garage into a detached and functional home is not an easy task, but together with the team of local workers, it was done in less than 5 residents. Drilling holes in the ceiling and walls, building a kind of terraced garden, installing the new windows and installing the new metal ladder were the main challenges.
FIFTH STEP : SELECTION OF DETAILS It’s time to select the details! The chairs and dining table are selected on site and carry the spirit of the island. Choose such details that reflect the true essence and traditions of the city where your home is located.

STEP FOUR: WORK PROCESS
The process of transforming the garage into a self-contained and functional dwelling was not an easy task but with the help of a team of local workers, it took us less than 5 weeks. Drilling holes in the ceiling and walls, building a terraced garden, placing new window joinery and fitting the new metal ladder were major challenges!
STEP FIVE: CHOOSING THE DETAILS
It’s time to select the details. The chairs and dining table are selected on the spot and carry the spirit of the island. Choose such details that reflect the true nature and traditions of the city where your home is located!
