Home design is not a frozen picture, but an ever-changing landscape

When creating any interior project, there is a final moment in which both we and the clients say “Here, this is it, we have it”.

We have refined everything – from the distribution of rooms to accessories and textiles, and it seems that we will never want to change anything again – neither to us nor to the customers.

However, life never freezes in an unchanging frame, but constantly flows from one form to another, from one mood to another, and the home reflects these changes.

That’s why we encourage our clients to look at their home as an ever-changing décor of their lives, rather than a frozen painting, and when they feel it’s time for a change, to do it boldly, without worrying about “going out of the project.”

Which interior elements will change the mood of the home without changing the basic touches:

Textiles

Curtains, pillows, bedding sets, carpets – textiles by default are subject to easy change according to the season, mood or current colors.

It is natural that in winter we are attracted to warmer, heavier fabrics, and in the summer we strive to lighten our home as much as possible and make it a cool oasis.

If we could classify fabrics into “summer” and “winter”, we would qualify them as follows:

Summer: Linen, natural cotton, hemp, silk

Winter: Wool, cashmere, velvet, denim

At the beginning of each season, changing textiles will give you a sense of new beginnings and new inspiration to do the things you love.

Tableware Kitchen Accessories

Another easy-to-change element that brings the feeling of new are dishes and kitchen accessories. A new set of glasses or plates, new serving mats – every dinner can be a new experience if you diversify your dishes.

An entire kitchen can also be transformed just by replacing the spice boxes from romantic glass jars with industrial metal boxes, for example.

Art

We always pay special attention to art in our projects – paintings, statuettes, small art figurines, with which we complete the overall sound of the apartment. Sometimes we choose them, sometimes they are of sentimental value to our customers, brought from distant destinations or passed down through generations.

Every art element in your home has its place in it as long as it brings you joy and aesthetic delight. If you feel that you do not look with pleasure at your paintings, at the decoration above the fireplace or on the shelf in the bedroom, do not hesitate and renew the art in your home.

Home is a reflection of life, and life always strives for renewal.

Color of the Year – 2023!

[:bg]And may the inner energy be with us!

We sent off a year full of opportunities and challenges. A year in which we all needed solid amounts of inner energy to meet both the good and the bad.

We were helped in this task by the color of Orgachim for 2022 Medara – a energizing, warm shade from the orange range. It is distinguished by tone, strong energy and warmth. It reminds us of the ’60s with its original presence, boldness and a little retro breeze.

Even when it was announced, we knew that this would be an accent color to emphasize the character and individuality of both the premises in which we use it and the clients we work for.

At the end of 2022, we already have several completed projects in which we have included this shade of orange as an accent color. And although the year is going away, the power of the inner energy generated by the color of this year will accompany the inhabitants of these homes in the years to come.

Here are shots from the bathroom of one of our projects, which is dominated by the color of 2022.

And what does 2023 bring us? The first color hints are more than promising.

Pantone named Viva Magenta the color of the current year – a bold and fearless color that exudes determination, optimism and new hope.

“In this age of technology, we’re looking to draw inspiration from nature and what’s real.”

PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta comes from the family of red tones and is inspired by the red of cohenille, one of the most valuable dyes belonging to the family of natural dyes, as well as one of the strongest and brightest that the world knows.

“Viva Magenta stimulates our spirit and helps us build our inner strength,” said Leatris Aizmna, CEO of the company.

At ATG Design, we warmly embrace Viva Magenta and its inner strength. We will use it as an accent color in bold kitchens, as a face-softening background in the bathroom and as an eye-catching element in the bedroom. We would combine it with a velvety texture or soft textile to highlight its hidden qualities.

And we would not hesitate to try to combine it with Mursala – the color of 2023 according to the Bulgarian company Orgachim.

Mursala is cool, gentle and soothing – like a walk in the mountains, like a cup of tea. It creates coziness, invites you to solitude and relaxation from the dynamic everyday life to rediscover and rearrange the significant things in life and achieve inner harmony and peace.

When we are looking for peace and harmony in the bedroom, when we want to create a relaxation corner in the bathroom – then Mursala will come to our aid.

At the same time, Mursala can be included in a bold, energizing combination with yellow, gold or dark oak and thus reveal its hidden sensory stimulating power.

Whatever the combinations of colors, they will always need the creative spark to “ignite” them, they will always need the soul of the inhabitants of the home to fully reveal themselves.

ICONIC DESIGN OBJECTS, LIMITED SERIES PRODUCTS AND COLLABORATIONS

[:bg]

The Milan Design Week Design Forum brought the whole of Milan to life with art installations, exhibitions and events on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Salone del Mobile.

Thus, our studio’s favorite season is the design season, celebrated every year with the beginning of Milan Design Week. This is the world event with the largest footprint in the world of interior and architecture, which, among other things, unites contemporary visual installations and exhibitions with the latest trends in furniture design. Of course, the exceptional finds of nomadic architecture, which usually find their place at the event, are not to be missed.

What impressed us with this year’s giant forum? If we can sum it up in a few words, it would be – iconic design objects, limited series products and collaborations with the most popular names in design. To top it all off, this year more than one or two brands celebrate anniversaries of some of their most remarkable products and collections, which necessitated…

A NEW READING OF THE CLASSICS

A large part of the top brands showed a new reading of their iconic design products, which proved their presence as classics of furniture. Anniversaries of these both unique and so simple furniture were marked with fresh and modern interpretations. Not only are they becoming bold visual solutions that dictate trends, but they are also changing and innovating production methods and materials so that they leave an ever-smaller footprint on nature with technological solutions and recyclable fabrics – a trend that is here to stay and will not wear off anytime soon.

Le Bombole by B&B Italia

Le Bambole is the well-recognizable armchair of B&B Italia, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2022.

Archibalt by Poltrona Frau

The Archibald of Poltrona Frau is unabashedly turning 110 years old. The eternal armchair with a captivating color design by visual artist Felipe Pantone is produced in just 110 pieces, with the limited collection uniquely celebrating the brand’s anniversary.

Last but not least, the anniversary is also the special furniture collection OBJETS NOMADES by Louis Vuitton – 10 years. Since its inception, OBJETS NOMADES has presented collaborations with only the best and most popular designers of all time, some of which – Raw Edges, Maarten Baas, Marcel Wanders, Atelier Oï, Damien Langlois-Meurinne, Patricia Urquiola and brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana. Authentic leather envelops the furniture in an enchanting way – comparable only to works of art in its strong vision, precise workmanship and price, which once again proved their practicality, functionality and innovative design, dedicated to travel as an ageless theme for the brand.

FOR THE FIRST TIME

As part of the traditional search for “nomadic” architecture, typical of Milan Design Week, Louis Vuitton showed for the first time in Milan, in Piazza San Babila, Nova House – a nomadic microarchitecture designed back in 1972 by architects Michel Houdrisier and M. Roma for Studio Rochel.

Nova House

Published in very rare copies, this innovative modular home is emblematic of 1970s architecture. Nova House is balloon-shaped, covered with an aluminum shell. The structure of the arches is made of galvanized steel pipes bolted to the base. The outer shell is composed of 180 aluminum slats, specially patented for the project, which follow the oval shape of the structure. The nomadic architectures that Louis Vuitton has presented during previous editions over the years are Shigeru Ban’s Temporary Paper Structure (2019), George Kandilis’ Hexacube (2018), Matti Suuronen’s Futuro House (2017) and Charlotte Periand’s La Maison au Bord de L’Eau (2015).

COLLABORATIONS AS IF FOR THE LAST TIME

Collaborations are a well-known practice through which popular brands invite different designers to create new collections that they position loudly through their well-known names and that of the brand.

This year, designers shone with amazing developments for the most sought-after brands. And Louis Vuitton did not betray their handwriting and this year, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its Objets Nomades collection, it showed extremely limited editions at stellar prices. The new additions this year, part of the nomad collection, are a table by India Mahdavi and a chair by Yoshioka Takashi.

Multi-family residential building as a synonym for increased quality of life in the big city

Statistics in the field of residential property over the past two years show that the trend is towards migration from the big city to smaller settlements. The pandemic is a key factor that has upended the way we work and therefore the way we live. Of course, the reasons are complex, but the leading one is the increased demand for a stronger connection with nature, peace and time for the family.

But why give up the advantages of the big city when we can find a harmonious place to live, right there?

A multi-family complex is becoming a preferred choice in the real estate market. It provides significantly more freedom than gated residential complexes and is a good opportunity to unite large families in a common building without compromising on independence.

Catching this trend, the architectural studio ATG Design began to develop the idea for the large-scale project “Cypresses” in early 2021.

“I am a supporter of a cohesive microenvironment based on the idea of collectivity and mutual assistance. I believe that the multi-family The complex creates this opportunity in a natural way and is suitable for large families of several generations, as well as for a wider circle of friends of families.” – says arch. Popova, who is behind the concept of “The Cypresses”.

During the pandemic, many families were left separated for a long time, and caring for children from pleasure became a challenge taken together with working from home. It is in this context that a multi-family building, having both privacy and closeness to the family, becomes a valuable asset and synonymous with freedom.

The yard spaces, as well as the tree species well integrated into the architecture, create a unique proximity to nature, moreover, within Sofia. Thus, the hectic life in the capital can be successfully balanced with the choice of a suitable home.

It seems that harmony and quality of life are an invariable starting point in the work of ATG Design. The team of architects and designers uncovertly emphasizes it in each of their projects. That is why the beautiful façade cladding and panoramic windows, which have become a trademark of their architectural style, speak.

2022 – a year of transformation and high vibrations

The Color of the Year is an initiative that we follow closely, both globally and indicated by the largest color company Pantone, and locally with its participation in the workshops organized by Orgachim, which aim to bring out the most popular trends for the region of Bulgaria in terms of colors.

Our society continues to turn to color as a mirror of its inner world, searches and inspiration, and colors are a powerful “weapon” of communication of our moods. With the shocks at the global level in the last 2 years, it is quite normal for the direction to be transformation and change of the individual and collective vibration.

Purple as innovation and transformation

For the first time, Pantone is creating an entirely new shade to be leading in 2022. According to Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, the purple shade Very Peri is a reflection of what is happening globally, namely through the creation of the new color, it reflects on universal transformation and global innovation.

Source: Unsplashed; Photo: Dilyara Garifullina

Purple tones have always symbolized increased vibration and self-awareness, and the complex essence of Very Peri – a combination of red violets with blue notes, is an expression of creativity, the development of ideas, emotions and the search for growing opportunities for humanity.

Medara – the power of internal energy

Orgachim this year again they bring out an extremely energizing shade under the name Medara. It is part of the orange range and is distinguished by tone, strong energy and warmth. The color is a beautiful reference to the bright fashion of the 60s with its retro taste, drama and original presence.

Medara goes extremely well with natural materials such as wood, leather, linen. White and dark gray accentuate and liberate it.

Both colors – Medara and Very Peri, are suitable as an accent presence in the home due to their strong character. We advise you to include them in the interior on one of the walls through paint or beautiful wallpaper, for furniture – chairs, sofa or decoration – pillows, blanket, objects. In this way, they will be able to manifest their bright radiance without intrusion. Here are two examples of how we implemented the two colors as an accent in the interior of a bathroom:

We combined Very Peri with fresh white, frosted black and smoky glass. We combined medara with the presence of wood, large raster, white, and gold is just a wink to the warm radiance of space. In both cases, we have included an imitation of a mosaic, in which the leading color and complementary shades must be present to achieve homogeneity.

Of course, we will not ignore the fact of how well these two colors fit together. If you are a supporter of a more eclectic style, then you can safely experiment and combine them in one space. To complete the abundance of sensory sensations, you can add plush, long hair and coarse rasters to this interior. The presence of impressive carpets is very relevant, which not only through colors, but also shapes will express your expressive essence. Purple and orange bring a touch of Orient and will refresh your home qualitatively.

Christmas decoration of 2021

Each particular holiday is distinguished by characteristic trends in decoration in different years. However, Christmas always brings a unique charge of tradition, sharing and emotion when it comes to decoration. One thing is for sure – the glitz goes to the Christmas and New Year holidays. This year is no exception and we have selected tips for some of the must-have decorative elements, part of the festive decoration, of course, entirely in the style and taste of ATG Design.

CHRISTMAS WREATH

We start at the door! During the holidays, we expect quite a few guests, and the Christmas wreath is the first “greeter”. Therefore, it should be the introduction to the home and be in tune with the decoration inside.

The wreath occupies an honorable place in the decoration of the home. It symbolizes infinity and eternal life with its round, continuous form. Christmas wreaths made of green twigs give hope that winter is not eternal and used to be among the preferred materials for making and shrinking a wreath. Increasingly, however, real green twigs are being replaced by artificial ones, which, at least in our opinion, have the opposite effect. Therefore, we are returning to natural materials again, but we are focusing on those that are resistant over time and bring just as warmth and mood. Christmas wreath from the beating wool – YES! You can make your own Christmas wreath and it will be completely natural. Decoration of cones, cork plugs, cinnamon sticks are just some of the examples that you can use and complement each other beautifully, and fully correspond to the Christmas spirit.

CHRISTMAS TREE

It is among the most widespread traditions related to the celebration of the Nativity of Christ. Although today the Christmas tree is considered a Christian custom, it actually originated in antiquity. In ancient Egypt, palm trees were decorated. Germanic tribes later decorated evergreen twigs to celebrate the gift of light around the shortest day of the year – December 21.

Very popular and environmentally friendly are alternative “Christmas trees”. They can be made of wooden boards or simply using festive lights to describe a silhouette of a fir tree on the wall. However, Christmas toys remain regardless of the choice – a real tree, artificial or alternative.

The Christmas peak is the place that is honorably decorated with a beautiful star according to custom. Now the choice is so great that you can even change this tradition and put an angel, a reindeer or just a Christmas hat on top.

Speaking of holiday decoration, we cannot miss one of the veterans in Christmas decoration, and this is Kurt Adler – a brand with over 70 years of history in the production of Christmas toys and decorations. The style is mostly classic and quite lush, but an accent and favorite for us is their Christmas peak, which glows and creates a real mood.

Wonderful miniatures and a gentle choice for the Christmas tree are the crystal decorations of Baccarat Crystal. The fine crystal makes them so ethereal. They are a real temptation for us.

Michael Aram is also among the brands that do not cheat on elegant design and have great suggestions for Christmas toys, which are also a good choice for a gift because they border on real jewelry.

A TRULY FESTIVE TABLE

The festive table is a central place at Christmas. That is why we should strive for exquisite table decoration. On Christmas and New Year’s days, glamour is never superfluous and in our opinion, it is also a mandatory presence on the tarpesa. Gold elements combine very well with white and warmer and earthy colors.

Various trays and trays with amazing decorations and golden reflections are a TOP choice, both for the festive table and in addition to the general plan in the home. The mini coffee table can also match this overall finish. A beautiful example is the décor that we created in the interior project Emerald Residence.

SNOW-WHITE FABRICS AND SOFT TEXTURES

To make the snowy landscape complete this Christmas, snow-white and cozy textiles will be a big hit this year! Fluffy fabrics and large soft knits are a desirable décor for the sofa, dining chairs or bedroom. Pillows are also a very nice addition to combine with them.

ATGdesign-decoration-snowwhite

Neutral tones are also very popular – beige, cream, natural wood shades. They pair easily with classic Christmas colors like red, green, and dark blue. However, the most important thing is to follow the dominant color scheme in your home in order to choose the most correct approach when decorating. That is why the choice of neutral tones can be appropriate so that there is no clutter of all the Christmas shades. And neutral and natural fabrics combine uniquely well with gold and metallic details.

LIGHTS!

When we talk about Christmas – think of glitter and more glitter! Lights are a must for creating a fabulous feeling. Minimalist and small Christmas lights forming a string of gently twinkling lights are in great demand. They will add the necessary mood to any Christmas decoration – simpler, cleaner with neutral tones or more sophisticated with predominant gold and copper decorations.

Last but not least, when planning the lights, festive candles will also be very important. Incredibly elegant design, and yet with a rather earthy overall spirit, are the model from our favorite Tom Dixon. They will add irresistible added value to the overall mood and atmosphere in the home and at the table.

Milan Design Week 2021: interior trends

The forum, which “floods” the whole of Milan with the giant furniture design exhibition Salone del Mobile and many other smaller events and art installations, is of large-scale importance for interior design professionals, as it highlights the main trends in the industry. “To feel in your skin again – truly irreplaceable!” – says arch. Iveta Popova after her return from the largest international design event – Milan Design Week.

“After a year and a half of lull in major events, visiting Milan Design Week from a professional point of view is more than inspiring. I can quite consciously say that attending this forum is very important for me and has always validated the creative directions of the studio’s development. We saw incredibly beautiful installations, innovative design and more importantly – we created new contacts and exchanged experience with international colleagues.”

Nature and its constant presence in the home

A trend that we have observed in recent years and is here to stay is the presence of nature and earth elements in the home. Fabrics and materials such as wood, marble, stone, precious metals such as nickel, bronze, rose-gold; linen, wool, cotton, strengthen their positions and are even more daring in their participation in the interior through unusual patterns, coarse knitting, rough and natural surfaces.

Milan-Design-Week-2021_materials

An accent with shapes and patterns imitating vegetation is also noticeable, as well as the presence of living plants incorporated into the design.

Milan-Design-Week-2021_nature-elements

The color palette is entirely pastel with strong earth tones – brown, beige, ocher, tile, gray. And most brands are focusing on shades of green, and the trend is to make colorful and distinctive faucets and ceramics in the bathroom.

Milan-Design-Week-2021_nature-elements-bath

Finishes and textures

The surfaces are extremely diverse and combine each other – smooth, matte, ribbed, glossy, transparent, mirrored. The desired effect is the activation of the senses and provocation.

Milan-Design-Week-2021_ribs

The reliefs and patterns on the glass windows are reminiscent of retro design – ribbing, even imitation of broken glass or a water surface.

Milan-Design-Week-2021_glass

Innovation, eco and sustainable design

More and more systematic work is being done in the direction of sustainable and eco-friendly design. Extremely demanded by consumers in the West themselves, this is the reason for brands to persistently develop new and interesting implementations of recycled materials – plastics, paper and others. An absolute trend is antibacterial coatings, as well as easy-to-clean and maintainable fabrics.

The solutions of lighting brands in this direction are admirable, but we will pay special attention to them in the next article. [:]

EMERALD RESIDENCE: THE HOME AS A TEMPLE OF PERSONALITY

[:bg]

Personalized solutions in every detail – this is how we can describe the process of creating the interior of Emerald Residence. Close work with the client and the whole family was key to achieve the desired result, and our professionalism and observation was key to solving the challenges in the apartment plan.

Resembling a beautiful painting, an old walnut adorns the large display case in the living room. An exceptional gift that closes the boulevard and gives a feeling of escape into nature. Yes, however, it is also one of the main disadvantages in the home – when leafed, the walnut obstructs the daylight and then the skillful design comes into play. With the first step into the apartment, arch. Popova made a proposal to “open” the entrance hall and the wall separating it from the living room to become an airy and stylish rack. This solution allows daylight to enter inside the home and creates a large shared space.

A place to read and the comfort of the fireplace

The owners are lovers of the aroma of books and true connoisseurs of literature. It was imperative to set up a reading corner with a library, which would be both an independent place, but also not detached from the entire living room.

In addition, an important moment for the family was to implement a fireplace in the design, which is a really valuable source of coziness and atmosphere in the home. Our solution was an open eco-fuel fireplace, which would be a kind of divider between the large sofa and the comfortable armchair. Placed low below, it fits perfectly into the concept of free space to let in more light.

The Artist’s Island

Again, a personalized solution that meets the wishes of our customers was the design of the dining table. It is specially designed so that it perfectly fits the compact size of the kitchen and plays the role of the so-called. kitchen island – a wide creative countertop for the avid amateur chef like Emmy. Hear what her previous attitudes and dreams for the new home are in ATG Design’s video series – My Perfect Home:

In the concept of the whole apartment, there is a symbiosis between luxury, simple design and functionality. To a large extent, we managed to give this touch of luxury with the beautiful golden details that bring warmth and are a wonderful accent color that contrasts and complements the emerald green that is strongly present. By coincidence, it turned out that this was another element that was completely customized for our customers in the design. We will give out from the kitchen of the workflow that this particular bronze-gold shade is not available in the color cartels of furniture companies and was created to order so that we preserve the character of the concept and fulfill the task.

Bedroom

Tenderness and stylish aesthetics complement each other in the master bedroom to turn a large room into a cozy room with a distinctive spirit and essence.

Architecturally, the room is designed for a children’s room with two beds and is narrow and elongated. Our job was to turn it into a warm and soft bedroom that would retain its functionality with large wardrobes and a ladies’ dressing table. Again, we applied a favorite trick to separate two corners in the otherwise large space – an open library, which is accessible on both sides and does not stop the flow of daylight. Thus, a place for the ladies’ dressing table was naturally formed, which can also be used as a working point for solitude and concentration.

Another element that gives character to the room is colorful and luxurious wallpaper, which has an interesting structure. They unite the concept of used shades and are again complemented by a soft golden tone, which this time is present in the curtains.
