Continuing the theme of children’s rooms, which we have been developing over the past week on our facebook page, we decided to take a look at children’s bathrooms. We realize that not everyone grew up with a separate bathroom as a child, but more and more apartments are architecturally planned with two bathrooms and this is a wonderful opportunity to predict that one will be for your future heir. This helps from an early age to build habits and is an advantage for parents, taking advantage of autonomy in their own bathroom. When we talk about a house – then we would emphasize the real need for a children’s bathroom.
Certainly, it is clear from the topic that the design of a children’s bathroom requires a dose of creativity. Whether it is a decoration or a complete transformation of the space – it is important that it is welcoming and “fun” so that all activities there are accompanied by the necessary enthusiasm, and not turn into an obligation.
Functionality
Yes, we will put functionality in the first place and it is quite natural for it to be consistent with the child’s essence. Plan height-accessible lockers and space for placing children’s belongings and supplies – a spare toothbrush, a sponge, extra toilet paper, a favorite toy. At the same time, do not miss the fact that there are accessories that should not be so accessible, so create a niche or frame in height that you will have access to. This aspect will change with the age and height of the child, but it is good to take it into account.
Bathtub
When it comes to younger children – definitely having a bathtub is an advantage and turns bathing into an adventure and game that the child embarks on without haggling. In the children’s bathroom, we recommend a private bathtub that is not built-in, because this way you will have the best access from all sides.
When building the design of this area, it is not to be neglected to have a small chair for your convenience – it can also be used by the child to make it easier to reach the sink, for example.
Accent with the lighting
As an architect and designer, I always make sure that the lighting is placed in the most reasonable way according to the designated areas and the “tasks” that are performed there. In the children’s bathroom, I advise you to think about lighting fixtures that are eye-catching. Here you can afford to bet on more playful shapes or colors.
Decoration
Consider adding an unobtrusive decoration that is in harmony with the overall style of the space, but at the same time fits the character of the child – this way he will feel really good there and will perceive the room as his true own. An easy way is to bet on colorful tiles that contain the child’s favorite shade.
A very favorite trick lately is to put moisture-resistant illustrated wallpaper in the bathroom. This creates a truly fabulous feeling.
