Graffiti in the office – more than decorating the walls

In conditions of a changed environment and total confusion and exchange of functions of residential and office spaces, decoration plays a strong role in identifying the place with the company’s brand. The office environment is already perceived in a new way, and this could not be ignored as a factor.

“Last summer, we had the task of renovating the office of Independent Media. However, this task extended far beyond cosmetic changes and our intervention as interior specialists was key.” – says arch. Iveta Popova.

When employees have been working from home for a long time, the return to the office should be positive and bring the touch of comfort that the home provided, but at the same time create space for creativity, concentration and increase the energy charge.

Before/After

“That is why we perceived our assignment as a mission of change and quality revitalization of the premises,” adds arch. Dare.

The name of the company itself also implies an expression of individuality, and the solution was to customize the space so that it declares a position.

The relationship between graffiti and office décor

Graffiti is widely perceived as a voice of protest, an expression of stable social criticism – a message that an independent media carries. We liked this as a concept to develop in the meeting room and was embraced by the client.

This contemporary visual language suits the brand very well and from art associated with the street, we transferred it to the interior as a shared expression of the company to carry its values in the image. The mural created in this way will always remind of the power of personal position and independence.

“When choosing the street art to implement in the project, we needed a deep conceptual conceiving of the drawing so that it conveys the overall vibe of the brand as a factor and complements the interior to make the project warm, welcoming and with a story that makes it mostly unique.”

We chose a distinctive pop art style with bright colors and a simple image that clearly communicates the idea. The thickened contour further emphasizes the message and we believe that the project supports the interior concept well.

All over the world, and more and more often in Bulgaria, we see architectural studios implementing street art and graffiti in their projects. This contemporary visual language, inherent in the urban environment, is capable of giving a cultural and artistic soul to office spaces and is a powerful tool for living in large volumes. The variety of shapes and styles is so great and can always be harmoniously woven into the bigger picture – from black and white strokes to colorful and classic graffiti, from realism to comics, everyone can find their own form that will nourish the creative thinking in the team and give a new image to the office.

EMERALD RESIDENCE: THE HOME AS A TEMPLE OF PERSONALITY

[:bg]

Personalized solutions in every detail – this is how we can describe the process of creating the interior of Emerald Residence. Close work with the client and the whole family was key to achieve the desired result, and our professionalism and observation was key to solving the challenges in the apartment plan.

Resembling a beautiful painting, an old walnut adorns the large display case in the living room. An exceptional gift that closes the boulevard and gives a feeling of escape into nature. Yes, however, it is also one of the main disadvantages in the home – when leafed, the walnut obstructs the daylight and then the skillful design comes into play. With the first step into the apartment, arch. Popova made a proposal to “open” the entrance hall and the wall separating it from the living room to become an airy and stylish rack. This solution allows daylight to enter inside the home and creates a large shared space.

A place to read and the comfort of the fireplace

The owners are lovers of the aroma of books and true connoisseurs of literature. It was imperative to set up a reading corner with a library, which would be both an independent place, but also not detached from the entire living room.

In addition, an important moment for the family was to implement a fireplace in the design, which is a really valuable source of coziness and atmosphere in the home. Our solution was an open eco-fuel fireplace, which would be a kind of divider between the large sofa and the comfortable armchair. Placed low below, it fits perfectly into the concept of free space to let in more light.

The Artist’s Island

Again, a personalized solution that meets the wishes of our customers was the design of the dining table. It is specially designed so that it perfectly fits the compact size of the kitchen and plays the role of the so-called. kitchen island – a wide creative countertop for the avid amateur chef like Emmy. Hear what her previous attitudes and dreams for the new home are in ATG Design’s video series – My Perfect Home:

In the concept of the whole apartment, there is a symbiosis between luxury, simple design and functionality. To a large extent, we managed to give this touch of luxury with the beautiful golden details that bring warmth and are a wonderful accent color that contrasts and complements the emerald green that is strongly present. By coincidence, it turned out that this was another element that was completely customized for our customers in the design. We will give out from the kitchen of the workflow that this particular bronze-gold shade is not available in the color cartels of furniture companies and was created to order so that we preserve the character of the concept and fulfill the task.

Bedroom

Tenderness and stylish aesthetics complement each other in the master bedroom to turn a large room into a cozy room with a distinctive spirit and essence.

17. ATGdesign-EmeraldResidence-photo_MihaelaDraganova_5

Architecturally, the room is designed for a children’s room with two beds and is narrow and elongated. Our job was to turn it into a warm and soft bedroom that would retain its functionality with large wardrobes and a ladies’ dressing table. Again, we applied a favorite trick to separate two corners in the otherwise large space – an open library, which is accessible on both sides and does not stop the flow of daylight. Thus, a place for the ladies’ dressing table was naturally formed, which can also be used as a working point for solitude and concentration.

Another element that gives character to the room is colorful and luxurious wallpaper, which has an interesting structure. They unite the concept of used shades and are again complemented by a soft golden tone, which this time is present in the curtains.

The four elements in the home in 2021

[:bg]

Fire, Water, Earth and Air – the four elements that define our lives will play a major role in the interior in 2021.

Air

Lightness, transparency, airiness – yes, these are the keywords. Both in terms of the choice of fabrics and in the planning of space and movement in it – the tendencies are towards freedom and air.

ATGdesign-transparency-inspiration-interior

We would also attribute fine ceramics to this feeling of tenderness and freedom. Ultra-thin ceramic bathroom products will be extremely relevant, and the variety of colors will emphasize the strong essence that 2021 nourishes. Our favorites are the Ideal Standard models, which are characterized by a variety of colors, extremely thin walls and unexpectedly impressive strength.

ATG-design-ideal-standard-bath-ceramics

Photo: Filip Mihaylov, products: Ideal Standard

Water

The water element will have an expression in the interior through its fluidity and adapting the whole according to your good will. This could be interpreted as multifunctionality in the furniture, for example, so that it can respond to your convenience at the right time. The same can be applied to light. Extremely popular in the last two years is lighting, which can be directly controlled and changed flexibly according to the occasion. Modular solutions are the top choice and we highly recommend!

Earth

The presence of nature always plays a key role in our lives. Therefore, her place in the home should be leading this year – this way we will strengthen our relationship with Mother Earth and be more balanced. How can we invite nature home?

1. Strong presence of energy-charged materials such as wood, stone, mosaics, wool, hemp, silk. Wrap the walls with warmth and bring coziness with beautiful cladding. They can be varied and complement each other pleasantly. For us, a favorite choice is both wooden cladding and wallpaper, which contribute to the rich tactile sensations. The presence of ceramics or stone on the wall can also enhance the impact.

ATGdesign-materials-inspiration-interior-design-kronospan

Photo: Filip Mihaylov, products: Kronospan

2. Take care of the living plants – they can beautifully build the spaces through their delicate shapes – both hanging and massive, according to the choice of plants. For the corners of the home deprived of good light, we would recommend beautiful tiles or wallpaper with images recreating nature, which will replace its natural presence.

ATGdesign-interior-design-omexco-wallcoverings

Fire

Last but not least is the fire element. It is an important element of the whole and you can enhance its presence easily:

1. Bio fireplace – it is no longer a mirage to have an open flame in the center of the room to warm you. Organic fireplaces are a wonderful choice for introducing heat into the home and bring incredible coziness with the presence of fire.

ATGdesign-Emerald-Residence-biofireplace

Photo: Maria Lazova, Emerald Residence

2. If you are not a fan of fireplaces, which we doubt, you can interpret the fire element through the bold red color and its presence in the home. However, be careful in what quantities and in which places you include it in the interior, as it can ignite passions, especially of emotionally open types.

Three apartments with character bring three international awards

In 2020, many events took place, predetermining the circumstances for the whole year ahead, which changed and transformed both the plans and the business itself. The ATG Design team was able to adapt quickly to the changes, and this did not stop the work process or our inspiration to create.

Thus, the year turned out to be charged with a positive charge, which motivates us even more for our upcoming big projects. Marked by 3 international awards, which are a strong recognition for our work, 2020 confirmed the direction of the studio, developing its distinctive character with an artistic vision and refined taste in the contemporary style of architecture and design.

Starbucks – Big SEE Award winner

RD-1 – Property Award winner in the category “Residential Interior Apartment” for the region of Bulgaria

RD-2 – Property Award winner in the category “Residential Interior Show Home” for the region of Bulgaria

The Year of International Awards

ATGdesign-blog-German-design-awards-nominee

Back in April, we received the news about the nomination of our interior project RD-1 in the prestigious competition German Design Awards 2021 in the Interior Architecture category. This was also the first verification of the high rating of the project, and after the “House of the Year” awards 2019 of Ideal Home, where we grabbed first place in the “Private Interior” category again with RD-1, we already had the absolute confidence that 2020 is our year to step on the international podium and apply for our style by participating in the established European competitions.

BigSEE awards 2020

Starbucks-BIGSee-branded-photos

The most exciting emerging platform for Southeast Europe, which promotes the creative economy in many aspects of design, for the third year in a row recognizes the best designers and architects in the region. The Starbucks project ranks among the Bulgarian interiors that most impress the BigSEE jury with its original and functional design.

European Property Awards

ATGdesign-RD-1-propertyawards-ribbon-02

The European property awards are held for the 27th year and cover more than 45 categories for residential and commercial space. The competition is part of IPAX UK & Europe – a European event that is landmark in the architectural world and brings together the best companies. The winners of The European property awards 2020-2021 are evaluated by an independent jury of 80 experts who focus on design, quality, services, originality and sustainable models. The jury is chaired by members of the House of Lords in the British Parliament.

Two of the projects of ATG Design are in the top selection for Bulgaria in categories respectively RD-1 in “Residential Interior Apartment” and RD-2 in “Residential Interior Show Home”.

“Initially, we stated our intention to join only with RD-1, confident in its strongdesign, but shortly after submitting the application, the Property Awards team was grabbed by the studio’s latest implemented project – RD-2. Then we decided to enter with both projects.”

ATGdesign-RD-2-propertyawardsribbon

On December 11, the online virtual ceremony of the European Property Awards 2020-2021 will take place, when ATG Design will compete in both categories against the best real estate professionals in the European region.

All three award-winning apartments have their own spirit and character. They are part of the My Perfect Home video series, which ATG Design launched in 2019. [:]

A combination of functionality and style – the kitchen of your dreams

The kitchen is probably one of the most used rooms in a home and it is natural for the style to combine the desired functionality and elegant spirit. Of course, our advice would be to plan the design of the space in such a way that in the next few years you feel comfortable and pleasant there. From simple casual design to modern and sophisticated – there are many variations! Here are a few basic aspects to consider to achieve the kitchen of your dreams.

Have you heard of the kitchen triangle? When it comes to optimizing kitchen space, this is one of the old rules that you will be glad you paid attention to. Incredibly, but it is a fact – this can save you energy when preparing food every day. What are the three points that the kitchen triangle connects – you probably already guess, right? These are the refrigerator, sink and hob. Regardless of the size of your kitchen, it is good to predict the exact proportions of the lines between these three points for minimal fragmentation and optimization of movements while whirling.

ATG-design-kitchen-interior-Pette Oreha_r

As a connoisseur of shared and open spaces, our team defines another triangle that you can connect in your home – the one between the living room, dining room and kitchen. A fairly common way of combining between premises, especially for large families or companies. An advantage is the creation of a common environment that brings its own atmosphere to each corner, but naturally unites for more pleasant moments together.

ATGdesign-RD2-residencial-interiordesign-photo-2

We should not miss the importance when determining the leading colors in kitchen design. It is increasingly relevant to combine different tones and materials to be repeated on individual elements of the place. Our favorites are white, shades of gray, wood, marble. In this way, you do not limit yourself to one main shade, but combine several that complement each other and create depth. A good idea for more freshness is to have an active color that will be an accent in the space. In our SS-2 project, awarded with the award for Best Interior of Small Home, the deep blue refrigerator in retro style grabs attention. Transparent chairs help to feel more space in the otherwise small 48 sq. m. apartment. That is why in this project the design is entirely subordinated to compactness and space optimization.

ATG-design-kitchen-interior-SS-2

Kitchen renovation is not an easy task, and it certainly takes time to find the perfect design that fits your essence. We hope that we have at least let the imagination run wild and given direction to ideas to discuss when planning. RD-2: a museum-sculpted interior in which comfort is on a pedestal

Fine aesthetics to the detail, combined with functional and stylish solutions – this is the character of the RD-2. Inspiring textures and precisely smooth surfaces are spread over a total area of 120 sq.m. The apartment consists of a bedroom with a bathroom, a study, a corridor and a unified living space that combines a kitchen, dining room and living room.

ATGdesign-RD2-residencial-interiordesign-photo-3

Photo: Mihaela Draganova

The unity of the living room with the vestibule is easily achieved by choosing a large-scale tile for the flooring. Granite tiles with a pattern resembling a mosaic are an expression of bold taste and a reference to museum interiors. The owner of the apartment “collects” memories that he wanted to arrange in the new home. Thus, souvenirs and favorite items found their place in beautiful glass showcases with a mirrored surface when they are dark.

ATGdesign-RD2-residencial-interiordesign-photo-8

Photo: Mihaela Draganova

Thus, the whole concept of the interior develops around the theme of “Travel and Memories”, and the design is visually on the edge between public and residential. You will notice that the accent in the hallway and living room are large mirrors, elegant surfaces and showcases that optically expand the space and resemble a gallery. However, comfort is not neglected, but on the contrary – emphasized by the strong presence of natural materials such as wood, marble, stone, leather, wool, silk. In this way, the connection with nature comes to the fore and contributes to the creation of comfort and warmth necessary for the perfect home.

ATGdesign-RD2-residencial-interiordesign-photo-7

Photo: Mihaela Draganova

The walls are covered with cladding, creating an eye-pleasing play between the reliefs of the different materials. White is not boring latex, but wallpaper with natural threads, complementing the feeling of coziness. The marble has a place of honor in the living room and bedroom, reminiscent of a work of art – again a contextual connection with the museum.

The decoration is mostly in gold and pink-gold metal surfaces to bring a noble touch and warmth.

ATGdesign-RD-2-deco

Photos: Zahari Merdjanov

The kitchen is minimalistically designed in black and white colors. There is a small coffee area next to the window, so that in the morning the owner can enjoy the wonderful view of Vitosha Mountain. The small drawers and the vertical winery stand out as a cool design element of the built-in furniture. A recurring detail are the smoky showcases, which maintain the subtle aesthetics throughout the apartment.

ATGdesign-RD2-residencial-interiordesign-photo-11

Photo: Mihaela Draganova

The cabinet speaks of a soft and noble character. Leading is the white color, combined with subtle gray and brown shades. Natural wood parquet matches the cladding and gives a warm look to the room, while the white ceiling and light curtains open up the room even more.

ATGdesign-RD2-residencial-interiordesign-photo-22

Photo: Mihaela Draganova

The lighting can be adjusted by removing and placing individual panels thanks to their magnetic grip. This feature allows residents to easily transform a home office into a children’s room in the future, for example. Again, we see that the library has been created with the ability to arrange favorite elements of residents to create a pleasant working atmosphere.

The predominant materials in the bedroom are wood, leather and textiles. Wooden parquet is a choice for flooring and in the bedroom, which goes perfectly with the bed with leather and textile trim. The specially designed bedside table has a drawer for watches and jewelry, which stands out with a leather finish.

ATGdesign-RD2-residencial-interiordesign-photo-31

Photo: Mihaela Draganova

The shelf under the TV is slightly reminiscent of the one in the kitchen and suggests the space reserved for green plants that always bring freshness.

The design of the two bathrooms stands out with an interesting playfulness in the geometry and imperfection of the tiles. Bathroom lighting #1 is designed with perpendicular and parallel LED strips that emphasize straight shapes and are a counterpoint to the oval of the sink and mirror.

ATGdesign-RD-2-bathroom01

Bathroom #2 is noticeable a beautiful relief of the tiles – each looks unique and carries the imperfection of nature. Again, geometric shapes prevail on one of the walls, creating the illusion of depth with their black color.

Contemporary classics – modern luxury

The classics are classics and will remain steadfast in the face of time. As fans of the modern style in the interior, clean lines and simple color combinations, our team believes that the classics can also have their modern interpretation, which deserves to be present in a luxury home in a very elegant way. Beautiful high ceilings, decorative cornices, lavish details should not remain locked in a bygone era, when they can return with an even brighter brilliance.

ATGdesign-classichouse-contemporarydesign-blogpost (3)

But how can the classic style look contemporary?

As an architecture and interior design studio with an established style and taste in work, it was challenging to refract our thinking through the prism of the classics. But preserving our signature style in the interior was important for achieving success in a seemingly classic project. Here are a few of our secrets.

The combination of colors, materials and patterns is key to achieving harmony. At the same time, however, maintaining non-standard and bold solutions is important to create a distinctive style. That is why in different places they will make an impression, for example, wallpaper on the ceiling, which will break the decorative cornice with an interesting pattern or rich color; or extravagant modern decorative details to give a slight joke and contrast with the strict tone.

ATGdesign-classichouse-contemporarydesign-mooihorselamp

Of course, I couldn’t help but keep the lacquered surfaces and metal details to be in bright gold, giving the desired noble finish. I am a connoisseur of old-school furniture design, but the decision was to keep them in light colors without the presence of figurative fabrics that weigh down the heart of the interior with more elements. The repetitive details characteristic of upholstery can be seen in the background as part of the fragments of the wall cladding.

ATGdesign-classichouse-contemporarydesign-blogpost (5)

A favorite approach is the implementation of materials in an unexpected way for the respective style. The combination of classic white wall frames with delicate patterned wallpaper refreshes the interior completely.

ATGdesign-classichouse-contemporarydesign-blogpost (2)

On the other hand, having marble with contrasting veins to attract attention is a good trick to play the role of accent in the room. And the addition of mirrors, as a decorative detail on the doors of the lockers, is an elegant note that diversifies the white smooth surfaces.

ATGdesign-classichouse-contemporarydesign-blogpost (1)

A new interpretation of the bathroom

For the interior of the bathrooms, it was important to adhere to the overall vision and elegance. We did not betray the luxurious style with impeccable white and dignified marble.

ATGdesign-classichouse-contemporarydesign-blogpost (6)

While in children’s bathrooms, through the introduction of popular modern brands, we allowed ourselves to bring a fresh provocation with candy colors and photorealistic prints on the tiles themselves. This is definitely the context of modern extravagance in which we like to work.

ATGdesign-classichouse-contemporarydesign-blogpost (7)

We continue to reveal the finished premises of our project for the modern classic home, so stay tuned for more visualizations and interesting interpretations of the new-old luxury – both with hints of heavy English aristocratic style and classic American taste.

THE OFFICE SPACE IN THE MODERN HOME

In the daily lives of many Bulgarians today, working from home has abruptly acquired a different meaning and it is no longer only freelance professionals who take advantage of this advantage. The fact is that many homes are not equipped with this functionality, but this is a good time to think that in the dynamics of modern society with a focus on career, having a comfortable space at home for work is a necessity.

ATGdesign-RD-2-homeoffice-design

RD-2 project – renders

But there are also many people with their own business, for example, for whom professional development has been among the top priorities for a long time. This naturally imposes the vision of the modern home with the presence of an office as a separate room. Well, don’t you think the era of the guest room is over? And what about transforming it into a home workspace?

ATG design - interior office 02

The creation of a cabinet in one way or another is an expression of the search for a convenient implementation of a space for a work process in the home. If you haven’t had it before, then you probably already think that it would be incredibly comfortable to have a special room for work inspiration and creative process, right?

There are no two opinions that working in a supine position from the couch is great…, but for half an hour. And how does the interior give a solution to the messy sticky notes and the crumbling table in the dining room with all your electronic gadgets or to the hunched stand because of the low table in the living room?

ATGdesign-GalcheviResidence-Homeoffice

We will share our experience as architects and will state that we have recently taken into account the need for the presence of office space in the home. That is why we often advise a client to create this important part of his future home due to a number of advantages. Of course, personal context is fundamental, and that is why we are going to present a very specific example of an interior completed this year.

Cozy cabinet for family business

In project RD-1 , the client’s task was to build an interior that the whole family could share for gatherings and workshops. The family business was the leading reason for the need to separate, in addition to a large open space for business meetings, also a secluded corner to focus on tasks.

ATG design-office render-RD-1-image 03

RD-1 project – renders

Here the plot clearly told us that the creation of a cozy office is mandatory and it was not difficult to assure the owners of this correct decision. Thus, we have separated a compact space in which there is both a desk with directional lighting and a small library with a comfortable armchair for relaxation or concentration.

ATG design-office render-RD-1-image 04

RD-1 project – renders

The choice of materials in this room corresponds to the overall line of the apartment, but is distinguished by the warm presence of wood and leather. Thus, the cabinet has become an important part that carries its own spirit and at the same time complements the home in a rational way.

What is your context and is it a functional solution to set up an office – we hope that working from home now will be a good starting point for assessing a future renovation or your new home. Our team of architects is available for consultations and preparation of a comprehensive plan for your home. [:]

TOP interior trends for 2020

Like every subsequent year, 2020 predetermines more and more trends and varieties, some of which are familiar from previous years, but with a new reading. The fact is that self-expression is a top trend, and it is usually the one we follow as individuals. That is why we, as an architectural and interior studio, will not be ashamed to point out these trends that are close to our hearts and boldly use in our projects.

Color of the Year

A tendency that we cannot escape is the need and demand of the individual, returning home to meet the calm and balance that were lacking in a busy daily life. We have already paid special attention to the blue – Classic and Harmony, according to global and local players in the industry, which bring balance in the mood and atmosphere. But one of the less frequently mentioned color trends of the year, which we also recognize ourselves, is that of Dulux – Tranquil Dawn. If the name of the shade doesn’t tell you much, simply put, it’s green! Soft and delicate, this color is easily combined with the so favorite grays and whites, which we use most distinctively in our work. In the latest interior project, we choose it as an accent in the upholstery of the furniture.

ATGdesign_Emerald Residence_kitchen (2)

Pink is back

For many of you, this may sound like a joke, but it is a fact that in its complex shades, pink is very pleasantly combined in the interior. Although after your childhood years you did not imagine the presence of pink in the home, we believe that if a few simple guidelines are followed, you will change your mind. Most of all, avoid tones that you associate with a barbie or a nursery. Matte surfaces in a fresh and light shade of complex pink (pink color mix with gray or red, for example) definitely contrast with pure pink with gloss, which we associate with children’s toys. The same applies to fabrics – the choice of velvet, wool or cotton looks elegant as an accent in combination with other more affluent tones to emphasize it instead of overshadowing it. The combination of metallic decorations in gold and pink gives a subtle finish.

ATGdesign-interiorproject-bedroomdesign

Simple and clean kitchen

Perhaps it occurred to you to disguise the refrigerator and incorporate it as part of the kitchen cabinets, but have you considered hiding the entire kitchen part?

ATG_design_Five-walnuts-interior-design-kitchen (1)

More and more households are moving in this direction, and the clean and minimalist design makes it a current trend. Small appliances and utensils can now completely disappear and the entire surface of the worktop can be freed up when you are not using it for kitchen coups. This is a perfect solution for designing a small kitchen or a combined kitchen with a dining room, so you won’t have to worry about your guests observing the workspace where you prepared their dinner.

ATG_design_Five-walnuts-interior-design-kitchen (2)

Plenty of texture

Design is not only about color solutions. We are increasingly seeing the customer’s demand for a multi-sensory experience at home and it is very easy to complement it with a combination of textures. The accumulation of various reliefs and materials is a real tactile pleasure. This is a perfect choice for a combination of neutral colors and is a suitable way to decorate the room even without the presence of new shades.

Traditional patterns in unexpected spaces

Small floral motifs are making a comeback and possessing almost every aspect of design, with ceramic tiles, upholstery, and wallpaper just the beginning. The new reading in 2020 will be precisely their non-standard combination with various contemporary decorations and styles or their unexpected appearance in spaces that are not typical for this choice.

ATGdesign_Galchev residence_kidsbathroomdesign

Velvet is back in fashion

Last but not least, velvet is a favorite trend that we personally think fits best into the décor through a beautiful armchair or sofa. Velvet has long been a symbol of luxury, and now many more people dare to add it to the interior, either as a characteristic finish or to emphasize their eclectic taste. Through the eyes of our professionalism, velvet in a good combination can emphasize the bold and refined style of the occupant.

With each of these trends, you can build both incredibly beautiful interiors and poorly thought out combinations. Therefore, our advice is to always consult a professional, so as not to create instead of coziness in your wonderful new home, a mistake that costs a lot. [:]
