Terrace in the apartment – a portal to nature

Your terrace can be a strong portal to connect with nature, whether the apartment is in a block or we are talking about a house. An important role in this is played by the well-built architectural plan of the building.

Without the ambition to bring exhaustiveness, we would like to dedicate this blog post to several aspects of planning and separating this corner of your home. It can have many nuances, going deep and affecting the decoration, for example, but we will look at this in a next post.

Exhibition

Already at the stage of architectural concept, the solstice in the different seasons is observed, so that the home can make the most of the daily light and warmth. A terrace with a well-judged exposure can significantly enrich the living space, adding the much-needed accent for freedom, air and contact with nature.

In residential buildings, this is a more difficult task, given the complementary nature of the plans of individual apartments. A solution allowing the best access to the view and/or sunlight from the terrace can be its variable depth relative to the position of the apartment. With a well-thought-out design, the balcony can be formed as part of the façade itself, in addition to having a good exposure and beautiful view.

Roof garden

In cosmopolitan cities, the lack of a terrace or its miniature size are very limiting the way of quality rest and enjoyment in the home. An interesting approach that architects have relied on is the opening of the roof as a beautiful garden and a shared terrace by the residents. There are impressive design variations here and we do not even comment on the option of building a swimming pool, which may also be the first association once we hear “rooftop”.

We certainly believe that this is a clever way to urge the community to take common care of the space, taking advantage of it for parties, gatherings and relaxation. This is a super alternative to create a larger terrace and the incredible advantage of creating a 360° view from above. If you are in the process of considering building a house, our advice would be to keep the opportunity to “open” even partially its top. Thus, you can compensate for a small yard and gain privacy with direct access to the stars from your personal room, for example.

Merging with the yard

A socialist interpretation of community care are the inter-block spaces for shared use in the panel neighborhoods, and in the center of Sofia these are the paradise closed courtyards between the cooperatives, to which only a few have access. The modern interpretation is now a private picturesque courtyard that connects to the ground floor apartments, quite popular for the neighborhoods near Vitosha Mountain. This predisposes to an amazing view of the mountain and at the same time the opportunity to open the home to an outdoor space. Merging with the yard can happen through floor-to-ceiling sliding windows, for example, and you have proximity to nature just a step away from the living room.

Children’s room interior – challenge or adventure?

[:bg]

We believe that many of you have not made plans to think about the interior of a children’s room. For others, on the contrary, the creation of a space is already on the agenda, which will be the first personal lair of the rapidly growing robber.

Having your own room for the children is a step towards separation and independence, which is not always taken to heart, unless you turn it into a new and thrilling adventure for them. To do this, it is important that they feel engaged in the process and that the room is a reflection of their desires and tastes. Of course, it is also an adventure for you to make the bedroom of their dreams, which is both aesthetically pleasing and properly separated according to their needs. The venture should not be overlooked as a challenge that you should keep a close eye on because it can exceed the preliminary budget.

Therefore, we will outline several elements of the interior of the children’s room to focus your attention on when planning – both on budget and on the distribution of areas in the bedroom itself.

Colors and fabrics

We have repeatedly emphasized the importance of a homogeneous selection of colors, so we will not dwell on this factor. We would also like to point out the good option for combining the fabrics and textures used in the room – this is an additional trick for visually combining elements of the whole. A good example is for the front board lining to be in the same textiles as part of decorative pillows or bedspreads. A connection can be made between two or more accents – curtains and lockers to be in the same color or pattern.

Wall with photo wallpaper

Considering all the mandatory elements, you would certainly like to have those present that develop the imagination and potential of the child. One possible option is to separate one of the walls with an eye-catching drawing or photo wallpaper. In addition to giving a dynamic design to the entire room, for different ages, such an accent brings added value and symbolizes their style.

Storage space

Regardless of age, there is always a mess in the nursery. That is why it is good to think about more space for storing things – be it clothes, toys or other. Thus, in the first years you will be able to make efforts in the direction of organizing and tidying up and turn it into a habit more easily. With the presence of large cabinets with a beautiful design, you will stick to a visually clean room and will be a reason to spend.

Play Corner

When we talk about the separation of spaces – we invariably think about enough space to play. Of course, in this case, you can’t rely only on the design and it’s nice to have elements that bring learning value.

Here, for example, in addition to the game element with a climbing place at home, there is also a reading room – a comfortable armchair and bookshelves.

Desk

Last but not least is the desk – mandatory with the entry into first grade. Together with your close advisor – the child, you can think of an interesting way to shape it so that it is both functional and pleasant for him to spend time on it.

Designing a playful children’s room for many parents is a challenge. One of the reasons is the difficulty of identifying the childish character that is in the process of formation. It is absolutely key to building the perfect room for them.

In addition, it remains for the parents to combine the style of the new room with the overall style of the home and at the same time comply with the wishes and demands of the child. Here comes the role of the interior designer, who can approach with the necessary experience and attention, offering the most suitable complete solution for your house or apartment. With a slight wink to you, we leave it to you to decide how you will “fight” this task – as a challenge or as an adventure.

My Perfect Home – a new series by ATG design

[:bg]My Perfect Home is an attractive and engaging way to invite our followers for a walk in ATG design’s completed projects. We believe that it is through the eyes of the owner and occupant that we can create the best idea of what the perfect home looks like.

The “home tour” format is not new, but on the contrary – an already established video format showing homes with a guide by the owner himself. Many foreign interior media manage to permanently attract the attention of the audience through this episodic type of material, walking it through the beautiful houses and apartments of celebrities. Well, we decided to step into the shoes of our clients and make a different presentation of the completed project. Although we do not rely on the popularity of the names, we believe that we will present in a natural way, in the words of the owner, his vision and perception of the home. And somehow of its own accord turned into an idea to create a series of videos, through which we will show one of our projects in the coming months.

For the pilot episode, we chose the RD-1 project, which we implemented this summer. The elegant interior of the ground floor stands out with the concept of merging the spaces, which is also a leading request of the client. Radoslava Dobrevska herself is the person behind the code name RD-1. She is chatty, radiant and full of energy. He defines himself and his family as extremely down-to-earth people. This is also the reason for the strong presence of natural materials everywhere in the apartment.

We can safely say that the work on it was an amazing synchronization between Radoslava’s wishes and searches, on the one hand, and the proposals and ideas that our architects implied, on the other. We follow how she hovers over the marble floor with ease and willingly shows the favorite details that are present in her new home, and we wish you a pleasant viewing!

How to achieve a luxurious look in the bedroom?

We continue the theme of a beautiful bedroom, this time emphasizing the importance of complementary elements that will give a luxurious look to the interior and will speak of your exquisite taste and fine aesthetics.

It’s high time you took this step towards a definite request for the style you have, because it is completely achievable to make your bedroom look like those from Pinterest. Here are some tips from the ATG design team.

1) Choose materials that have a strong charge

In an intimate space such as the bedroom, the power of natural materials (wood, stone, leather, wool) contributes to the increase in energy and also looks stylish and sophisticated.

Thus, your favorite marble can be chosen as the leading accent, while wood, being warmer, is the main building material. Beautiful parquet in dark walnut can be beautifully combined with leather elements that enhance soft shades and contrast pleasantly, for example, with metal decorations.

2) Go for a distinctive wall cladding

For smaller bedrooms, we would recommend a distinctive wall cladding that will attract the eye. This is a bold solution and can be implemented both by wood cladding and with luxurious textile wallpaper.

Those who want to accentuate with a vibrant color, we would advise to approach with a contrasting shade of paint. That way, if you decide to change it over time, you’ll be able to do it within a more reasonable budget.

3) The visual finish of each bed – front board

3D visualization by ATG design

In addition to giving convenience, the front board is an aesthetic element that can greatly complement the visual finish not only of the bed, but also of the wall behind it. The preferred trick of our team is to elongate the headboard in height to the ceiling and thus create a complete panel of soft textiles. By choosing the materials well, this can unfold in beautiful contrast with the wall cladding.

4) Add a neat little library

A library in the bedroom is not only a choice for true literary lovers. This is a corner that qualitatively changes the atmosphere in the whole room and the opportunity to create a space where you can be alone. The aesthetics that a corner strewn with books bears speaks of refined taste, not only in the interior, but also in art.

On the other hand, the presence of a small library is a stylish finish to contribute to the elegant decoration of the room. At the same time, you can leave some of the shelves closed to store small items inside and so you will keep your eyes only on selected items.

We hope that with these complementary guidelines, you will be able to build a clearer idea of the luxurious style you are looking for and select the elements that must be present in your bedroom. The ATG design team, on the other hand, remains available and we will be happy to assist in the visualization and overall execution of such an intimate place as the bedroom in your new home.

4 Important elements for a harmonious bedroom interior

The bedroom is a reflection of the most personal preferences and style of its occupant. If for some it is a place where they cram only for a healthy sleep and do not pay much attention to it, then for others it is a secret temple. If the latter is for you – the interior should speak for itself with the necessary grandeur for this, of course. How to achieve this fascinating essence – we will share a few simple elements that we think are key to building the foundation, the rest is a matter of personal taste!

  1. COMBINATION OF COLORS

Keeping in mind that the bedroom is the room where you are looking for peace, privacy and relaxation – it is natural that the colors are harmoniously selected to bring this feeling. Our advice here is to choose one main one and two more that are in range with it, so that they complement it pleasantly without intrusion. For the more daring, it is possible to include as a leading and more active color. This mostly corresponds to the haratare, being a true reflection of your essence. Usually, however, this room of the apartment is accentuated with soft tones, which suggest relaxation of the eyes – the most strongly influenced in sensory terms.

If you still want to add a bright color as an accent to the décor, it is good to match it to the other shades and materials in the room, such as – what is the tone of the color of wood, marble or metal elements; so that it fits naturally among them.

  1. LIGHT

Free up the space around the windows! When planning the decoration, minimize decorations or furniture that can prevent light from entering the room. Of course, as a place for a good night’s sleep, it is good to have more solid curtains or thick blinds that provide an opportunity to darken even on the sunniest day.

ATG design blog post 4 bedroom tips - natural lights

3D visualisation by ATG design

When we make the architectural plan of a building – our team always relies on larger, and where appropriate – panoramic windows. We are of the opinion that the presence of natural light qualitatively changes the overall feeling, especially in the bedroom.

3D visualisation by ATG design

The same can be said for lighting fixtures – properly selected lighting gives a different touch in the late hours of the day and can significantly change how a room looks. An increasingly popular trend is the implementation of controlled and directional lighting. This allows you to both reduce the strength of the lamps and their shade. And when placing directional lighting, it’s very important to know what kind of focus you want to give.

  1. CLOAKROOM

3D visualisation by ATG design

Yes – in a word, a lot of space! In order not to be present as your regular guest in the bedroom, we advise you to think in the direction of separating enough space for things and clothes. A clever approach that the ATG design team likes is to dedicate to this place located behind the bed itself. Thus, the nook reserved for messy fashion thoughts remains isolated in its own part of the room.

  1. MIRROR

A beautiful and necessary element in the interior of the bedroom is the mirror. We strongly believe that its presence is not only mandatory by necessity, but also brings a very elegant visual finish. And when we talk about smaller spaces, this is a stylish solution that you would like to use for the optical expansion of the space.

As we emphasized at the beginning – these are the basics. Each next step should take into account them in order to have homogeneity of the choice and combinations. Thus, in addition to pleasing the eye, they will remain stable over time. This will allow you to regularly play with smaller elements of decoration to refresh the room.

Minimalism and cubic shapes: a modern interpretation of a Mediterranean villa

You remember that since May we have been on the Mediterranean wave and we like to immerse ourselves in the spirit of the coastal villas. Vacation August logically brings us back to the topic, but this time we will look at its contemporary interpretation and how Mediterranean architecture is influenced by modernism.

If in our May blog post we had focused on the distinctive and lavish elements typical of this architectural style, as well as on the open spaces – now we want to pay attention to their absolute contrast, which is an integral part of the currents that influenced the Mediterranean in the architectural aspect of modern times.

Straight corners and simple shapes

Perhaps a little surprising that an element borrowed from modernism and strongly present in the style of south coast houses is the simplified general view. At the beginning of the 20th century, leading modernists in architecture, such as Le Corbusier, for example, strongly adhered to simpler forms and minimizing decoration. This reinforces the white facades with thick walls, but with a much simpler design and the exclusion of complex fragments and decorations.

Small abstract windows and column lifting

Archipelago House by Nómena, located in Vichayito, Peru; Source: architizer.com

Archipelago House by Nómena, located in Vichayito, Peru; Source: architizer.com

As a total contrast to the large windows connecting the premises with the external environment, small windows with non-standard shapes are very popular here. On the one hand, they provide this clean vision of the façade, but on the other hand, they aim to allow less sun into the home and keep it as a cool and “shady” place. The abstract design gives the feeling of a contemporary reading.

The typical column lifting, again recognized as Le Corbusier’s handwriting, is recognized as appropriate in the construction of Mediterranean villas, in part because of the natural features of the places where they are usually created. This contributes to the easy terrace of the house, which is so characteristic of this region.

But in the most up-to-date interpretations of Mediterranean construction, you will notice the presence of the best of both “models”. The solution to limit the scorching sun and yet the separation of larger panoramic windows is most often blinds made of dense and natural material such as wood. The lifting of columns is also a preferred element in the design, which, in addition to pleasantly corresponding with right angles and cubic shapes, allows to form this fusion of inside and out.

Typical of southern latitudes is the basin and it is often an integral part of the landscape. We looked at several types of pools in our last article in our edna.bg column, which are undoubtedly a suitable addition to the overall Mediterranean villa landscape. Stay tuned for our next topic, which will give guidance in choosing features to implement in your future pool. [:]

An abundance of textures, noble materials and beautiful rasters – the distinctive spirit of the RD-1

If you have been hesitant to invest in a home in a gated complex, then with the presentation of our latest completed project, we are sure that we will convince you. Leading, of course, is the interior, which emphasizes the advantages of the place, but we will say from the first person that it is certainly a pleasure to create in a pre-conceived architectural plan.

In absolute contrast to the usual spaces on the ground floor, which we usually take for small and without much light, here the living room impresses with a high ceiling and large windows along the entire height of 3 meters. Despite the very light window sill at the top, the wide windows open up significantly the interior with a beautiful view of the patio, which is a step away. The sliding system solution allows the interior space to completely merge with the cozy veranda in the warmer months as a natural extension of the united living room. And the open access of the room from the entrance hall and kitchen leave a feeling of even more freedom.

The vertical ribs of the wooden paneling additionally elongate the already available height and, in a pleasant contrast, make the marble floor cladding stand out even more – visual tricks, skillfully used by arch. Iveta Popova. Characteristic of her work – a single stylist is noticeable in all spaces in the apartment, which adds value to the visual experience.

The marble is a protagonist with a pronounced presence in each of the rooms – it accompanies from the very entrance into the hallway, slides along the wall behind the sofa and TV, into the kitchen and continues into the bathroom with an entrance from the corridor.

The fine melange in several shades of gray is present on the upholstery textiles in every room – a subtle reference to the luxurious wallpaper, which brings more variety to the walls, along with the strong materials in the cladding.

The two separate rooms – the bedroom and the study, have elements in the general style, but are distinguished by dark oak parquet. The elegant grille of the MDF boards harmoniously complements the chocolate shade of the floor and the paneling present here. The bathroom to the bedroom stands out with its own spirit – different styles of terracotta textures prevail. Small bee boxes are noticeable in the niche, and the uneven surface of the white wall tiles and embossed embroidery patterns on the floor enrich the experience tactilely.

The adventure continues in the dark half of the day, when specific corners stand out in the interior, pleasantly accentuated with directional lighting. Of course, it plays a key effect in the cabinet, where its functional side is leading. It is through the flexible adjustment along the entire length of the rails that the navigation of each of the light fixtures is easy to adapt to the needs of the occupant. Fixed LED cigars allow you to create depth in the interior.

In this way, function and aesthetics are uncovertly intertwined in the author’s concept of a modern home of arch. Dare. A distinctive style that she does not cheat on and unfolds with even more scope in 120 sq.m. on the ground floor of a modern gated complex in the capital. Bold and modern – your home as a mirror of your essence

[:bg]

If there is something that betrays the character of a person, it is his habits. And if there is something that betrays the character of the home, it is its decoration.

Small details can turn the feeling of vast spaces upside down. There is no denying that you often notice small accents that tell you a lot – both about the place itself and about its inhabitants. So why underestimate the decoration of your own apartment?

In many cases, this is a never-ending process – precisely because you are constantly changing your tastes and changing your style. And it’s better that it is! The right accents have the power to significantly improve the interior, and an eclectic mix of elements in the space can be a request for modern and elegant taste in step with trends.

Always in fashion

An approach that we often choose in our work is for the overall interior to be in a clean and minimalist style. This allows you to play with key decorative elements that give the desired finish, bring color and even be a leading accent. This way you will always be able to distinguish yourself with the latest fashion, updating the decoration with a new, up-to-date item that will also reflect the change in your inner world.

A favorite trick that we apply in our latest projects is to add unique fashion objects that have the power to unlock life in a room in unexpected ways. A soulmate that we recognized in this endeavor are our partners from Elegant living. With them, we always manage to find the right decoration to emphasize the distinctive features of the character of our customers.

ATG design_decoration iconic object_RD-1_pineapple

ATG design – interior project RD-1

We believe that this approach can be adapted to any home, even if at first glance some of you interpret this as too bold and modern a way to insert a decorative element that will instantly grab attention. You should definitely not rule out this option, especially when you are looking for a strong accent to enhance the clean interior.

For extravagant and bold personalities, choosing an item visible outside the context of space is a very cool way to break up a minimalist and stylish home. This adds a bold touch to classic furnishings, for example.

ATG design_decoration iconic object_RD-1

Considering the decoration as an absolute mirror of your essence, it sounds logical to choose it yourself in the nuances of your mood and preference. For those of you with a pronounced affinity for design and distinct aesthetics, such an undertaking would rather be a personal bonus and a key to establishing your own style in décor. For others, however, it may be a wrong step away from the otherwise beautiful and conceptually built interior.

ATG design_living room decor_RD-1_

The application of accents should be in the direction of creating thrill through decorative elements and striving for a fashionable experience in an elegant home. So if you don’t feel brave enough and confident in supporting the “right” decoration, then our advice is to trust a specialist who will fully reflect your nature through specific objects. This will create a space that will be a real satisfaction for your senses and personal inspiration in your every day. [:]

The walls speak – an accent in the home with which you will impress

A mirror of fluid and experimental human nature, the trends for 2019 in home decoration are bold and more and more people dare to apply them in their homes. This year is definitely characterized by a shift in focus away from gray, neutral shades and a search for more vibrant colors on the walls to enrich spaces with a rich visual experience.

ATG design bedroom interior

3D visualization: ATG design

For a relatively long period, the leading choice in the interior was the gray range, creating a feeling of more air. This really frees up space for the presence of other types of accents. Now, however, people need to attract new emotions and sensations and turn to fresher tones and bold patterns. We notice a demand for more energy, with some preferring to be wrapped in colors directly. This study of the consumer outside the traditional framework is also due to the desire to establish their own style in the interior, which expresses a specific individuality and taste.

Connection with nature

This change in thinking takes the form of a harmonious restoration of the relationship with nature and its presence in different ways. Floral patterns are super relevant, and not from this year. Their consolidation as an active element in 2019 suggests an increasingly strong recognition with nature as part of the home. This really breathes new life into the walls and makes them a leading accent at the expense of a more neutral color scheme in the furniture.

The variety of patterns on almost any materials (wallpaper, tiles, textiles) allows the implementation not only in one room, but a synchronous approach with repetitive motifs throughout the home.

Live presence

Currently, Pinterest is measuring a 286% increase in demand for vertical gardens on the platform. Undoubtedly, this registers an obvious trend for the presence of nature, and not only as a pattern or print, but absolutely real. We often approach with the implementation of an entire green wall of natural vegetation. This even helps to contrast with the wall next door, highlighting the features of both.

Relief and textures

Tactile sensations add a new line of perception to the atmosphere and if you are a connoisseur of distinctive design, you should take advantage. An absolute favorite in 2019, the embossed patterns on the walls bring a touch of splendor, but at the same time can also show an elegant taste, combined correctly. Creating a contrast between two different fabrics is extremely appealing, and if you are not a fan of bright colors, this is a suitable way to create a distinctive element on the walls of the interior, preserving the range.

ATG design wall texture combination

3D visualization: ATG design

A stylish choice in this case would be the luxurious Belgian wall cladding made of natural materials OMEXCO and KHROMA, which demonstrate the unlimited possibilities of wallpaper in creating original interiors. Of course, this type of texture matching is thin ice for non-professionals. There is a real risk of overdoing it and instead of a subtle presence of matter, it will result in a crowded and pompous interior. Without hesitation, it is best to turn to a trusted designer to achieve the desired effect. [:]
